Eco School
Sledmere holds the Bronze Eco Award for our environmental work. Here are some of the things we do:
- We have weekly paper recycling collections
- We turn off all the computer screens at the end of every computer lesson
- All Foundation and Key Stage 1 fruit peelings are composted
- Year 5 are responsible for the school garden as part of their 'Dig For Victory' project. They grow potatoes, strawberries, broad beans, raspberries, onions and lots of different types of herbs.
- Some Year 6 children act as litter pickers and carry out their job on a daily basis
- We turn off lights when we leave the classroom
- Now that most classrooms have their new windows we can turn down our heating which will save us lots of money!
