On Tuesday 16th January, we had a Reading INSPIRE workshop, based on our class text of 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundell. We read a chapter called 'The River' and looked at a variety of challenging questions to help our understanding. We then took part in a 'hot seating' activity with 1 child acting as a character from the story, with the rest of the table asking them questions about their feelings and emotions of life in the rainforest so far. From this, we wrote a passage of text, describing our emotions and feelings as one of the characters form the story (Max, Fred, Lila, or Con).
We had a lovely time showing our adults the type of work that we do in an English lesson and the challenge of the work given.
Take a look at what some of our grown-up's thought...
"...thought it was a great way to explore the different characters, emotions and reactions. I enjoyed the questions about the character."
"...good opportunity to see the children within a reading activity and see the help and support given in preparation for SAT's."
"It was informative and interactive."
"It was an interesting way of learning for the children. I really enjoyed it!"
