Year 1 had a reading morning on
Monday 12th September.
Each Class focused on an Author and had activities linked around their favourite book.
Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic day at Avoncroft Museum on Tuesday 11th October.
We looked at different houses describing what the houses are made out of, straw, wood and brick. They also had the opportunity to make their own brick using the tools that were used many years ago.
In DT we have been exploring how to join different materials together in preparation for making a chair for Baby Bear.
Our Topic is the Victorians. Children have had the opportunity to explore Victorian Artefacts. They are comparing between objects used in the past and objects used today.
The children experienced a day in the life of a Victorian classroom. They sat in rows of twos and sat in silence. They had the chance to write with a slate. They really enjoyed this!
Come Rain or Shine!
Our Topic for this term focuses on seasons and weather. We have recorded the weather and the temperature each day and have looked at and labelled weather symbols.
Our Seasons T-shirts!
In our DT lessons, children have designed, made and evaluated their own seasons t-shirt. They used fabric paints and fabric colouring pens. They also used the technique they had learned of gluing fabric pieces onto their t-shirt.
World Book Day!
Thank you for all of the effort you made with the costumes of children's book characters. They all looked great and had a fantastic day!
We have had a fantastic time designing, making and evaluating our fruit kebabs. We learnt two safe techniques for cutting food; the bridge hold and the claw cut.
Children tasted the following fruit:
They then chose three to make their fruit kebab.
